Meet The Instructor
I am the owner and sole instructor for Masterpiece Makers. MM came about as a desire to provide routine instructional art time for my own children. I realized that if I offered it to others in the community, it would not only make it more fun for my own children, but it would also become something they could rely on throughout the school year. After a successful first year with 17 students, Masterpiece Makers expanded to include two homeschool classes and a teen class! Then camps! And we’re not done. There is so much more in store for MM!
I am extremely passionate in helping every child know they are an artist simply by being born! While some people draw and/or paint extremely well, those skills come much harder to others. BUT art isn’t just drawing nor painting. Art is a wide, wide range of materials and mediums. It is my goal to expose the children to as many of these as possible in hopes that they will find one or many that resonate with them. I hope that they will continue to pursue some kind of art outside of class using what they have learned they liked or didn’t liked in class….piecing together mediums, techniques, and themes that they enjoy. I know everyone has a unique view begging to be shared. That’s what my classes are about!
I have a Bachelor’s of Fine Art from Mississippi University for Women. I have worked with children in some capacity for many years including teaching CrossFit Kids, assisting with kid’s camp for TaeKwonDo, teaching at a preschool (12-18months), and subbing for Austin Independent School District. I also completed my alternative teaching certification in Texas.
